Monument to the postman (Perechyn city)

In the city Perechyn there is the only monument to a postman in Ukraine, it’s established in 2005. In this case, the monument is dedicated to historical person - a local resident of the neighboring village Turyi Remety, his name was Theodore Feketa. He worked as a postman in the first middle of the XIX century, wearing every day the mail from his home village to the city, and it is 10 kilometers of mountain road in one direction. He always had time to time, without making any discounts on the weather or wild animals, which met many times - the road is really dangerous. For his punctuality villagers gave him a respectful nickname "Ambassador". 

Theodore Feketa died in 1838. The inhabitants of his native village installed memorial plaque on the bas-relief with the “Ambassador’s” image of the local chapel. Only deserving people was buried in this temple. At the plaque, starting with his name written in Latin, in Church Slavonic said: «Fedor Feketa. In memory of affection, sobriety, honesty and diligence of the Ambassador Theodore Feketa. Servant of God died in 1838".
